Key Responsibilities:

• Prosecute municipal ordinance violations in Municipal Court and other courts of competent jurisdiction.

• Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare cases for trial and appeals.

• Interpret and apply local, state, and federal laws.

• Review cases, draft charging documents, and present legal arguments in court.

• Provide legal counsel and training to city officials, police officers, and code enforcement personnel.

• Work with victims, witnesses, and defense attorneys to negotiate equitable case resolutions.

• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality in all legal proceedings.

What We’re Looking For:

• Education & Experience: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

• Licensing: Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri.

• Preferred Experience: At least one year as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, or in a government legal setting. Other relevant legal experience will be considered.

• Skills: Strong legal research and analysis, persuasive communication, and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.

• Technology Proficiency: Experience with legal software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Karpel, and Missouri Case.Net.

• Ability to: Represent the City in a public setting, work independently, exercise good judgment, and remain composed under pressure.

Work Environment:

• Office-based with occasional travel for court proceedings and training.

• Some exposure to hostile or irate individuals in legal settings.

• Requires attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
