Administrative Assistant
Job Summary
The administrative assistant position will provide administrative support to the Technology Organization’s Field Operations East & National Team. The group is composed of a Group Manager, Supervisors, a Support Analyst, Administrative Assistants, Telecom Analysts, and Field Ops Technicians. Field Ops acts as the hands, feet, eyes, and ears in the field for many partner groups and installs and maintains the data, voice, and telecommunications transport infrastructure for Southern Company.
This position will specifically provide day-to-day administrative support to the projects and operations team(s) located in North GA.
A high-level summary of responsibilities specific to this administrative assistance role includes:
- Time processing
- Expense report processing
- Employee training records maintenance
- Calendar and group schedules maintenance
- Leased equipment, office supplies, etc. ordering
- Administrative records authoring, maintenance, and management
- Plan and organize meetings including arrangements for catering, room reservations, etc.
- Make travel arrangements
- Prepare presentations
- Generate reports
- Engage in accounting and budgeting processes as necessary including paying invoices, etc.
- Provide dedicated administrative support to the Eastern Safety Advisory Board (ESAB)
Additionally, this position is responsible for ad hoc administrative requests dependent upon current projects or initiatives affecting the team or organization. This position will also provide backup support to peer administrative assistants in the organization.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma required. College degree preferred.
- Previous experience providing administrative support or relevant work experience in a customer service or support role, or in a role where experience and skills are clearly transferrable is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) is required.
- Experience with business expense processing, timekeeping, and coordinating meetings/events is preferred.
- Experience with the Oracle HCM suite of Human Resource Management products is a plus.
- Experience supporting a department of 25+ people is a plus.
- Administrative certifications such as Certified Administrative Assistants (CAA) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) is a plus, but not required.

Work Location & Hours:
- This position may be performed remotely. Reporting to an office location each day is not required. Occasional travel within Georgia for staff meetings and team events may be expected.
- The successful candidate can reside in any of the following Georgia counties: Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dawson, Dekalb, Fayette, Floyd, Forsyth, Fulton, Gordon, Gwinnett, Hall, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Jackson, Jasper, Lamar, Meriwether, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Polk, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton. Candidates in close proximity to these areas will also be considered, but candidates must be located in Georgia. Relocation assistance is not offered with this position.
- This is a non-exempt/hourly position. Typical workdays and hours are Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM with flexibility. There will be occasional after-hours and/or weekend engagement needed during storms, team events, etc.
- The successful candidate will be required to attend occasional team, vendor, or business partner meetings, training, or other on-site events and must be willing to travel and attend in person when necessary or requested.
