The Opportunity & Responsibilities
SUNY Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach EKG and Phlebotomy courses. Instructors will deliver comprehensive theoretical, didactic and hands-on laboratory instruction aligned with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)curriculum and state regulations, preparing students to take and pass certification exams. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and have the ability to work effectively with students who have barriers to employment. Courses may be taught during the day or evening. Adjunct instructors for these courses report to the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Developing course syllabi and creating assessments
- Presenting lectures/demonstrations and conducting skills labs
- Maintaining accurate records of student performance and grades.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in a relevant field
- Practical occupational experience in EKG and/or Phlebotomy
- Demonstrated competency to teach adult learners, experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of internet navigation, email and computer skills are required.
- Completion of an application and a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Phlebotomist, EKG Tech, Medical Assistant and/or RN.
- Previous teaching experience
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities
Salary and Benefit Information
Starting salary is $900 per credit hour and will be commensurate with education and experience. Some benefits include New York State Retirement options, supplemental retirement and life insurance options and employee tuition waiver.
