Legend Biotech is seeking an Accounting & AP Supervisor as part of the Finance team based in Somerset, NJ.
Role Overview
We are looking for someone who has varied experience working in a publicly traded company, ideally biotech or pharma, handling month-end close GL accounting operations along with experience in the Procure-To-Pay/Accounts Payable process. We are ideally looking for more of a generalist that will allow us flexibility to harmonize and distribute tasks most effectively with our existing team members, working collaboratively as a team, and who can also work independently with minimum guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the accounting for US entity involving Right of Use Assets, Fixed Assets, General Mont-End Accounting, and/or Accounts Payables.
- Help manage the PTP process.
- Work closely with the US, Accounting and PTP team, Legend Financial Reporting Team, Treasury, and the FP&A team.
- Provide accounting support for other Legend operating entities as requested.
- Possible specific tasks include:
- Month end accounting and reporting responsibilities include but not limited to journal entries, variance analysis, and creation of operating entity reporting packages with timely submission into the financial reporting team in compliance with the month end reporting calendar.
- Responsible for the accounting for right of use assets, fixed assets, and payables. Accountable to ensure accounts are properly reported and supported.
- Accountable for recording, reconciling, and managing prepayments, payroll.
- Assist with Intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation of the month end reporting which will be submitted to the Legend Reporting Team. Prepare commentary and explain fluctuations on a timely basis to comply with the month end close timeline for balance sheet and income statement.
- Prepare account reconciliations on a timely basis and ensure they meet SOX requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring integrity of the general ledger and collaborating with the reporting team in maintaining the chart of accounts.
- Initiate continuous improvement to increase efficiency and respond to change in the business environment.
- Cooperate with external auditors, timely deliver the financial information to third parties and regulators when necessary
- Address ad hoc requests as needed.
- AP: Processing invoices through vouchering against POs, coding and booking Non-PO invoices, and tracking and monitoring invoice payments to ensure timely processing of invoices
- AP: Resolving parked/blocked invoices through investigation of issue and working with end users to resolve reasons for parked/block status to ensure timely resolution
- AP: Monitoring and reconciling key supplier account statements periodically, communicating with supplier contacts, as well as ensuring invoices overall are processed accurately and paid timely
- AP: Working with Finance and IT to help set up suppliers on EDI invoices as well as evaluate and implement other process efficiencies
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or above major in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- CPA License or Certification is preferred (or demonstrated experience working in Accounting, Finance, or in managing PTP/AP process).
- 5+ years working experience in accounting, finance, and/or AP function, in the biopharmaceutical and/or medical devices industry.
- Working with global ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and moderate excel skills (pivots, vlookups, sumifs, etc).
- Working with internal/external audits and familiar with SOX 404.
- Working on month-end close of general ledger, balance sheet account reconciliations, accrual estimates, and prepaid accounting.
- Background in public company, integrated external audits (Plus for experience with Big 4 audits).
- Be a self-starter and can work independently with minimal oversight.
- Comfortable with taking initiative and cultivating new relationships across business functions.
- Extensive experience in month-end close, PTP process, with SAP S4 Hana, and process improvement (including automation/technology).
- Identify risks and ensuring or implementing mitigation efforts/steps.
- Diligent in taking notes, tracking tasks, and raising questions/concerns timely.
- Fluent oral communication, reading and writing skills.
- Collaborative working style and willingness to step in to help broader team.
- Ability to think critically, analytically, and problem solve.

The anticipated base pay range for this is: $81,273 - $111,750 USD.
