JOB SUMMARY

Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Platform & Integration)

Position Overview:

We’re building a cutting-edge competitive product intelligence platform to help Medline deliver smarter product insights. For that, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer who will design and implement secure, scalable backend infrastructure to support intelligent, user-specific experiences. You’ll start by owning authentication (SSO), user context mapping, and orchestration calls between internal systems and AI engine. You’ll also build and maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitLab, integrating with Azure services to deploy and monitor the app.

This role will evolve into broader platform and application development responsibilities, with opportunities to shape architecture, backend logic as well as future data engineering integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable backend systems using Python and FastAPI
• Implement secure Single Sign-On (SSO) using MSAL + Azure AD
• Build middleware to enforce customer-specific access and user roles
• Manage Azure Blob file upload, cleansing, and download workflows
• Integrate FastAPI orchestration layer with internal APIs (pricing, inventory)
• Construct AI-ready prompts using enriched user context
• Own GitLab pipeline development for CI/CD (build, test, deploy)
• Manage secrets via Azure Key Vault and support environment configs
• Monitor application health and log AI + data response flows
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and deployments

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering roles
• Strong with Python and FastAPI
• Deep understanding of OAuth2, JWTs, and enterprise auth (MSAL/Azure AD)
• Experience deploying to Azure App Service and working with Azure Blob, Key Vault
• Familiar with GitLab CI/CD, YAML pipelines, and secure secrets management
• Skilled in API design, error handling, retries, and response shaping
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Bonus:

• Familiarity with AI integration patterns (RAG, prompt engineering, OpenAI APIs)
• Experience working with multi-tenant access models
• Exposure to file processing or ETL pipelines
• Exposure to Helm Charts

The anticipated salary range for this position:

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
