**ARDMS registered technologist with proficiency in principles, practices and techniques of ultrasound procedures. **

Hours:

  • Registry (0.1) FTE, minimum 8 hours per week, rotating weekends
  • Day Shift: Varaiable start times with rotating coverage for PTO of mid-pm-overnight shifts
  • Weekends: Rotating weekends
  • Holiday sign up and Holiday backup
  • Area: General Ultrasound
  • Locations: Supports department at Loyola Hospital, Loyola Outpatient Center with rotational coverage at off-sites to Burr Ridge, Oakbrook Terrace and Tinley Park

About the job

In this role the Ultrasound Technologist, under the general supervision of an attending radiologist, and in accordance with department protocols, the Sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data which is used by physicians in rendering a medical diagnosis resulting in quality patient care.

What you'll do

  • Performs and demonstrates competence in Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging procedures by producing, assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis.
  • Recognizing, identifying and appropriately documenting normal anatomy, abnormalities, disease, pathology and pathophysiology for accurate medical diagnosis.
  • Performing all types of ultrasound procedures and services, in accordance with department protocol, to ensure appropriate patient care for patients in all age categories (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  • Follow department protocol guidelines for specific ultrasound exam and completing ultrasound exam within given procedure time parameters.

Here is what you'll need

Required:

  • Associate degree; graduate from an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program
  • Specific Degree(s):AMA approved Sonography program;
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology
  • Less than one year of previous job-related experience
  • New Graduates- Four- six semesters ultrasound coursework, including a clinical rotation of 1100 plus hours.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS)-SPI, with specializationin Abdomen and or Ob/Gynecology
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association ONLY
  • Registration within 3 months of hire, in a minimum of one to two specialties of either Abdomen and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology required.
