Mason, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TransDigm, offers world-class control devices and subsystems - such as control grips, throttles, HaWC controllers, and communications interfaces - for today's advanced cockpits, military vehicles, and other specialized applications. Our solutions fall into two broad categories: control products and components.

Summary

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the organization's procurement and purchasing functions in support of operational, quality, and customer delivery objectives within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role oversees the acquisition of raw materials, machined components, electrical components, tooling, outside processing, and production-related commodities while ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and aerospace industry standards. The Purchasing Manager leads the Purchasing team and is responsible for supplier performance, material availability, cost control, and supply chain risk mitigation. This position partners closely with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support production schedules and customer commitments, with potential for broader materials and planning responsibilities as the organization evolves.

  • Develop sourcing strategies that support quality, delivery, inventory, and cost objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFQ processes, negotiations, and supplier performance management activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and coordinate recovery plans for shortages, late deliveries, quality issues, and capacity constraints.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support production and customer delivery requirements.
  • Support inventory management and material planning activities to align supply with operational demand.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements, customer flow-downs, FAR/DFAR requirements, and company procurement policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Buyers and future purchasing/materials personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, lead-time reduction, cost savings, and purchasing efficiency.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activity, supplier performance, and reporting metrics.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in all supplier and business interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
