Position summary:
Primarily responsible for accurately locating known or planned data points using GPS equipment, for collecting, processing, and updating drillhole and GIS data, and conducting as-built surveys of drilling and construction activities. May also assist in the collection of downhole geophysical, lithologic or camera data from open-hole or cased wells. Works regularly both independently and as part of several multi-disciplinary teams and includes equipment maintenance and accurate data collection and record keeping.

- Conduct surveys using Trimble GPS equipment to locate and stake planned and as-built drill sites and mine-related infrastructure using GIS and related software.
- Maintain and update drillhole databases and GIS datasets primarily through use of GIS software.
- Digitize, scan, and organize geologic and survey data.
- Create and update maps and figures using GIS and CAD software for operational, permitting or presentation purposes.
- Collect high-quality camera data on open and cased holes.
- Assist as needed with geologic description of drill cuttings and environmental sampling.
- Assist as needed with the collection and processing of downhole geophysical data.
- Ensures that all data obtained is entered and stored accurately in spreadsheets or databases.
- Regular attendance.

Education and Qualifications:

- Associates or Bachelor of Science degree in geology or related discipline, with two years’ experience with similar responsibilities preferred but not necessary.
- Strong computer skills including GIS software such as ArcGIS and/or MapInfo, as well as CAD software and MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of data management processes.
- Professional level oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to the possibility of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
